BARVIKHA, July 4, 2009 (Itar-Tass) State Council meeting, reprinted by Johnson’s Russia List on July 5 - President Dmitry Medvedev said energy saving in Russia would require not only organizational and economic measures but also (a) new mentality. "We speak of energy saving, and this is a very complex issue for our people because we don't know how to save," the president said. "We are very tough, we are very big and very rich. We don't even turn off the light all the time," he added. "So this means a revolution in the minds too." Medvedev said alternative energy sources would sooner or later replace traditional hydrocarbons. "There is no doubt that hydrogen fuel, for the development of which billions of U.S. dollars are spent, will be obtained. This will be done for the sole purpose of not buying our oil." Analysis by Charlotte Wilson - worldviewopinion.com This is so very Russian - try and try again, how could I ever find two paragraphs so very exemplary of the Russian Federation mind. Please read them again, a third time is you like. I often like to start at the end of a text and work back. President Medvedev may not know just how right he is about America - about the U.S. saving on energy and “not buying” his oil, if it isn’t necessary. And the part about “We are very tough, we are very big and very rich,” …oh my. |
