New Years, 2010 - The Moon will always be with us - article retired
A "Blue Moon" ("once in a") will be full tonight - New Years Eve - but now it’s 6 AM on the Day of Eve Day. Right now, it’s still dark except for this moon, both fully opaque and transparent, it’s bright splendor only wistfully obscured by a “mackerel” sky - those little wavy dashes in shades of blue, gray and almost black.
I stood and watched for a while. The moon was framed perfectly in a window - it didn’t move, or we didn’t move. I wanted to watch it sink into the morning…I waited…but I grew impatient - just like me. Went off to do something, came back. It was gone. I missed my opportunity - I hate that; did I learn patience - maybe.
The joy of writing and not of living is that you get to do it over.
I stood and watched for a while. The moon was framed perfectly in a window - it didn’t move, or we didn’t move.
I want to see it happen. I walk outside; it’s very cold, but I’m wearing faux fur. I blink… and I’m closer to the moon; it’s brighter; those wavy mackerel scales are sharp and glistening. Like a reflection in water, the fish below mirrored in the sky above; I’m drawn to the one in the sky; I’m closer to it now…ever closer…over my shoulder, the world behind me moving away.I choose to stay with the moon - in a dance of sorts, I like the way it moves - the moon is sexy. I am beguiled; I want to reach it, touch it…get a closer to look at the rabbit with long ears, having a tea party, just as it did when I was a child. I want to sit at the table, sip my tea and listen to the funny jokes the rabbit tells.
The moon is always with us - I’m so glad
Greetings on this gorgeous moonlit night, New Years Eve - the bridge to 2010...WorldViewOpinion.com
From this day onward, it will be a new year. I will note significant happenings as we travel through this cardinal year - both enjoy and tremble as we move along. Each day will be different from the one before. Change is good.
